The Red Volume
A curated collection of vintage football programmes, gathered by my family to celebrate the history of Liverpool FC and the charm of retro matchday designs.
Year :
2020
Industry :
Social Media
Project Duration :
5 months

Motivation
Our family collection of football programmes was a treasure trove of design, history, and memories. I wanted to give these programmes a digital home where their stories could be shared, appreciated, and enjoyed by fellow fans.

Process
Selecting Pages: I chose the most visually or historically interesting pages — covers, team photos, line-ups, adverts, and match highlights.
Scanning & Editing: Used a home scanner to digitise the pages, then edited them in Photoshop, enhancing readability while preserving their vintage character.
Curating & Posting: Designed Instagram posts with consistent formatting and context captions, creating a cohesive, visually appealing feed that told the story of each programme.

Skills Developed
Through this project, I practiced creative curation, social media design, and storytelling — learning how to transform a physical collection into a visually engaging online archive. I also gained hands-on experience with tools like Photoshop and Illustrator, exploring their features for photo editing, layout design, and creating consistent visual styles while developing my digital design skills.
Outcome
The page attracted strong engagement from supporters who enjoyed seeing the retro designs and match day history. I paused the project after moving abroad, but it’s a page I hope to revive one day, continuing to celebrate and share the collection.
